"WHO THE HELL ARE THESE GUYS?" Hunted through the Louisiana woods by a mysterious paramilitary group, Keo and Norris are about to reach the end of the line. After months of running, hiding, and fighting for their lives, the ex-mercenary and the ex-cop will finally discover the identity of their pursuers--and why they will never, ever give up. The planet may have been purged and the ghouls now hold complete dominion over the night, but in the day, man still remains the deadliest species. After the Walls come down, the Fields will run red with blood...

The Fields of Lemuria Sequel to The Walls of Lemuria Sam Sisavath 9780692285909 Books

THis was a worthy follow on to the previous book, and continues the adventures of Keo. Picking up where "Walls" left off we find Keo and small band being pursued during the day by a bunch of para-military types looking to extract revenge for the death of one of their members.

That is pretty much the book really. We go from one fire-fght to the next. What keeps your interest is the strong character development and dialogue.

As in the first book, verylittle is revealed about how the world came to suck (pun intended) so badly. Every possible permutation on this theme has been written, and it really doesnt matter. I am satisfied with a gut-level read about survival under harsh conditions.

One thing that is getting a little old is the word play on Keo's name. 'Gary' was taken. Yuck, yuck. Not that funny anymore.

All in all, solid well-written zombie fare for a good price.

The Fields of Lemuria Sequel to The Walls of Lemuria Sam Sisavath 9780692285909 Books Reviews

This is a another home run! I am completely hooked on this series of books. This book had everything you need. Action, humor, loyalty, death, survival. I am so excited that the main character will be in the original Purge of Babylon series. This is one of the best series I have ever read.(and I have read over a hundred)
If you haven't started reading this then you are really missing out. These books a well priced and you don't get short changed on the length of the books.(which is awesome because most series I have read are only a couple hundred page's)
Seriously this is the series to read. You most definitely won't be disappointed.
Sam Sisavath please don't stop writing. You are a when it comes to story telling!
This is a great series! The focus on another group of survivors is a good approach with the promise that this new group will soon meet the original group of survivors. The author has taken a more realistic approach to traumatic injuries - especially gun shot wounds. However, the recovery period still seems unrealistically fast. Keo is a great character with a great attitude about the end of the world. If you can't hang on to your sense of humor then you really are lost. Keo is definitely not lost. What kind of name is Keo, you might ask? Dan was taken. The writing is tight and well paced. The dialogue is realistic, not stilted like so much in this genre is. The plot is well paced and there is good character development. I am eagerly awaiting the next installment of this series.
If you've read any of Sam's other works (and if you're reading this you probably have) then you've probably been sucked into this series also. Without getting into spoilers, I loved this book. It's a perfect conclusion to the Lemuria spin-off series, and also lays the groundwork for how the characters will eventually enter into the world we know in the Purge novels.

Not to wax intellectual here...but I've seen a couple reviews from people who were disappointed because this book wasn't chock full o' horror. You have to remember that this book (and it's predecessor) had the specific goal of introducing characters we've not seen before, making us care about them, as well as wrap up a taught story line and set the stage for said characters to enter into the Purge novels...in a little over 400 pages (both Lemuria books combined). These books had plenty of "horror" for me and I'd recommend them to anyone who enjoys great novels and great storytelling.
Kudo's to the author on another fine book.

This one has Keo and Norris being hunted by Pollard's black clad army. These guys are well armed and there are more than enough of them.

Pollard wants revenge for the death of his son Joe.

Joe was a kid who convinced Keo he would leave and not come back. Joe and two others had attacked Earls house where Keo and those with him were staying. Keo killed the other two.

The old Keo would have killed Joe without a second thought. This Keo decides to take Joe at his word. Little did he know that his decision would have long reaching effects for he and Norris.

Joe came back with black clad men. He himself was dressed in black. Keo had no problem killing him this time and dearly regretted not killing him earlier.

Keo had no idea that Joe was Pollards only son. Pollard being the leader of the black clad army. Keo wouldn't have cared less if he had known. He still would have killed Joe.

Had he killed Joe the first time he saw him and buried the body Pollard wouldn't be trying to kill or capture he and Norris right now. Keo would be headed to Santa Maria Island and Gillian. Dumb Keo certainly was.

Now he and Norris are being pursued by Pollard's army. They have been steadily herded South in the Park they are all in. The only saving grace is that the park is full of mature trees. Thousands of mature trees that Norris and Keo use for cover.

The are also homes built by the wealthy. These homes are acres apart and provide hiding places in the night as Keo and Norris seek to avoid the bloodsuckers. During the day the houses provide plenty of defendable hiding places.

So begins another very fine read.

This one has Keo, Norris, Pollard and his army, a kid named Luther, a girl named Fiona, a captured Norris, a Keo who will try to get Norris back, a man named Zach, another man named Shorty, Allie and her island, a captured Keo, a man who wants to kill Keo more than Pollard does, a plan by Keo, the bloodsuckers, death, men in hazmat suits and Keo and Norris doing their best to survive.

Five Stars.
I read The Fields of Lemuria in one night and didn't want it to end. I have already pre-ordered the fourth book in the Purge of Babylon series, The Fires of Atlantis. All of Sisavath's books are wildly entertaining, unfold at breakneck speed, and are written with his unmistakable sense of humor breaking through in all the right places. The good guys are good, the bad guys are bad, and the zombie creatures are scary and disgusting. What more could you want?
